Homegrown — Atlanta, GA @ Ponce City Market | In Office ~4 Days Per Week | Reports to the CEO
My name is Michael, and I’m building Homegrown. We are a fast-growing financial technology company helping brick & mortar entrepreneurs expand with capital and AI-enabled technologies. We exist to unblock responsible growth and expand the foundation of the American dream.
We are pioneering non-dilutive, revenue-based expansion capital for multi-unit operators — restaurants, fitness studios, retail, franchisees — and we deliver it where owners already run their businesses: embedded inside the software platforms they use every day. Our embedded partnerships with Square and Flock Safety are live proof of the model, and our pipeline of the next embedded funding partnerships is evolving fast alongside our direct-to-owner funding business.
This isn’t just a “startup” for me, it is a mission. To learn more about why I’m building Homegrown, read this essay on our website: Why We Exist.
We are hiring a Head of Product to help push our company to the next level of scale & societal importance.
Our Values
- Warm & Candid — We care deeply about each other, which is exactly why we tell the truth. Warmth and candor aren't in tension; honesty is how we show we're invested.
- Outcome-Obsessed — Effort is not the point. We measure ourselves by what we learn and what we actually achieve.
- Autonomous & Creative — We work like artisans: with taste, ownership, and imagination. We don't wait to be told; we decide, build, and answer for it.
- At the Edge — Top 1% isn't the bar. We chase the top basis point. The frontier is the only place worth working.
The Role
This is a true partner seat next to the CEO — not a siloed function. You will be the first full-time product leader at Homegrown, and you'll help shape the company itself, not just the roadmap.
- Own Homegrown's core product end-to-end — the borrower experience, the funding application, the offer engine, the embedded flows our platform partners integrate with, and the new products we’re incubating.
- Partner directly with the CEO on the concepts that won't die, and with our partnerships team on what platforms actually need to say yes
- Refine & translate product strategy into clarity for engineering
- Work every day with our engineering team (most of our team is ex-U.S. today)
- Deliver an expanded platform that unlocks victory for our customers — our mission it to help entrepreneurs expand successfully, and the technology we are building should help tip the odds of success in their favor
- Run the new product engine: tasteful concepts, rapid testing and validation, honest kill decisions, and a living roadmap the whole company can execute against
- Be a user whisperer. Sit across from operators and platform partners, understand their real pain, and know them by name. Own problems, not tickets.
- Operate AI-native. We expect you to use AI as a daily lever in research, prototyping, validation, and decision-making — and to push the rest of us from top 1% of proficiency closer to the top basis point (.01%) of efficacy
You probably aren’t the right fit for us if:
- You are not in Atlanta
- We are incredibly flexible when life happens, but as a default we need people who can be in office with our team at least 3-4 days per week.
- You’ve only worked at large companies
- Startups are very different than big companies. We need someone who is comfortable operating in a startup environment with extremely high autonomy, stakes, and expectations. Everyone on our team is an artisan builder. We don’t need more managers.
- You don’t love the art and reality of startups
- Most startups don’t work. The winners are typically non-consensus plays that seem a little crazy. The weirdos tend to be the ones who create the future. We are weirdos who happen to love finance.
- You aren’t very comfortable being “hands on keyboard” in a wide variety of softwares including but not limited to: Claude Code, Figma, Slack, Github, JIRA, Mixpanel, Excel / Google Sheets, n8n / zapier, postman or similar API tooling, and SQL / a query layer (Metabase, Hex, etc.).
